Hello, Civil War history buffs!  We just put out a HUGE selection of Civil War history magazines for just 10 cents each in the Friends of Smyrna Library Bookstore.

Presenter: Dr. William P. Marchione

An examination of the life and career of one of the most interesting of America’s founding fathers, the British aristocrat who presided over the early stages of Georgia’s colonial history, who led the venture as much by force of personality as constituted authority. Soldier, scholar, diplomat, philanthropist, city planner, and visionary, Oglethorpe’s life and career, with its myriad twists and turns, is both fascinating and instructive, foreshadowing in many ways the complex history of the state he helped found.

Fall Jonquil Festival Book Sale Concludes - Highest Proceeds Since 2010

We had the most successful book sale since October, 2010 at this weekend’s Jonquil Festival. We raised $2,050 and it is dedicated to the 2019 Summer Reading Program.

THANKS to all of the volunteers who sorted 3000 books and 1000 CDs/DVDs/Audio Books this week for the annual Friends of Smyrna Library Fall Book Sale this weekend at the Jonquil Festival. We have an enormous selection of children’s books from 25 cents to $3. Equally enormous is the selection of hardback fiction novels, nonfiction, paperbacks, cook books, crafting books and many more genres. 

We open at 10 am on Saturday morning. Our tent is located in front of the Smyrna Community Center. 

Genealogy Workshop: Researching Your Military Ancestors

November is the centennial anniversary of the armistice which ended World War I. Smyrna Library is honoring this anniversary with a genealogy workshop, "Researching Your Military Ancestors."  

This free workshop, underwritten by the Friends of Smyrna Library, is Saturday, November 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Smyrna Library. Seating is limited, so RSVP to sreference@smyrnaga.gov.
