Harold Lee Smith, former Mayor of Smyrna, Georgia died peacefully at his home on Saturday night, May 22. He was born January 15, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia. He spent most of his life in Smyrna where he developed a great love for this city. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Sharp Smith.He served his country in the US Navy where he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Cabot, CVL-28.
Mr. Smith and his wife Betty were lifelong supporters of the Smyrna Public Library and Mr. Smith served as a Friends of Smyrna Library Board member for many years. He will be greatly missed.
