Today we celebrated Chinese New Year with an introduction to Chinese Calligraphy.
Chinese calligraphy is the art of writing Chinese characters, blending visual aesthetics with literary interpretation.
Regarded as one of the four esteemed pursuits among ancient Chinese literati, alongside playing stringed instruments, the board game "Go", and painting, calligraphy exemplifies a profound cultural tradition where the stroke of a brush carries both artistic expression and philosophical depth.
Ms. Loyee Ling led the workshop. She is a certified Chinese teacher and an
advocate of cultural education. All workshop
supplies were provided and a paper sculpture craft was also included.
This workshop was sponsored by The Friends of Smyrna Library.
