The January/February 2019 Art Gallery exhibit has opened – Oils by Barbara Criner. The exhibit is on display through February 28. The Art Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Smyrna Public Library.
Art Gallery exhibits are organized by the Friends of Smyrna Library.
Artist Statement
I live in Powder Springs, GA having moved to Georgia in 1999 from Stockton, California.
I started working on my art degree by attending the Academy of At College in San Francisco, California; although I moved to Georgia before completing my degree I have continued my studies by taking workshops.
I usually paint in oil which is my preferred medium. The paintings that I do are usually portraits; because I find people fascinating and challenging.
Before I start painting I usually take a few moments to get to know the subject by studying them.
This allows me to get a feeling for the personality of the person and to tell their story.
